A friend of the foundation, historian Michael Charleston “Xiao” Briones Chua, proudly holds his copy of the limited 50th Anniversary Edition of The Philippines: A Past Revisited. This commemorative release honors the enduring legacy of Renato and Letizia Roxas Constantino, whose work continues to inspire generations of scholars, educators, and truth-seekers.

Xiao Chua is a Filipino historian, academic, and media personality known for making Philippine history accessible and engaging to the public. He teaches at De La Salle University Manila and is widely recognized for his historical consultancy work, public lectures, and his popular segment “Xiao Time” on PTV 4.

In his recent Walking History column in The Manila Times, Prof. Chua paid tribute to Letizia Roxas Constantino, highlighting her pivotal role in shaping the intellectual and political legacy of her husband, Renato Constantino. He emphasized her lifelong commitment to truth-telling, her editorial brilliance, and her quiet but powerful influence on Philippine historiography. You can read the full reflection here.

The launch of this special edition marks not just a milestone in Philippine historiography, but a renewed call to engage critically with our past. With a new introduction that connects imperialism, fossil fuel dependency, and the climate crisis, the book invites readers to reflect on the historical forces shaping our present—and our future.

Copies are available at Popular Bookstore, located at 38 Panay Avenue, Bgy. Paligsahan, Quezon City. Don’t miss your chance to own a piece of history and support the continuing mission of the Constantino Foundation.
