Theirs was a unique romance. They were a couple who wrote together and who fought for causes they shared. The move story of Renato and Letizia Roxas Constantino was epic.
In her diary entry on 6 February 1978, Letizia shares the way she and Renato worked together, as observed by Onie, her astute secretary, who recounted to her how she described to their printer the intellectual collaboration of husband and wife,: “Sir is the architect, and Ma’am is the carpenter.”
One photo shows Renato seated calmly by Letizia’s side during an events that launched a volume of Issues Without Tears. Did you notice the composition of the other image? A playful Renato takes the photo of a smiling Letizia using her reflection in a large mirror, something young Filipinos still do nowadays.
Love keeps us young, Letizia would often tell friends and family. We agree.
