‘The Philippines: A Past Revisited’ Book Launch at Museo El Deposito

SAN JUAN CITY, METRO MANILA ─ The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) together with the Constantino Foundation, Masters of Management Program of UP Manila, Hunters-ROTC Historical Society and the City Government of San Juan will launch the 50th anniversary special edition of The Philippines: A Past Revisited by Renato Constantino and Letizia Roxas Constantino.

Calling for a rapid transition to renewable energy almost thirty years ago showed that historian Renato Constantino was ahead of his time. Although it does not explicitly discuss climate change, the book shows the way global economic developments involving fossil fuel-driven imperial expansion intersected with the course eventually taken by the Philippines.

Written and first published in 1975, the special hardbound edition comes with a new introduction that discusses the climate crises with Philippine history and the authors’ love story.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research, and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
